I&P publishes its second global impact report

 

Investisseurs & Partenaires publishes the second edition of its annual impact report, a summary of our impact mission and the most significant achievements and progress made in 2021.

In a time period strongly marked by the Covid-19 crisis, I&P's teams have grown stronger, new projects have been launched and support for African entrepreneurs is more necessary and useful than ever.

I&P Acceleration in Sahel: a review of the regional training workshop for the first cohort of entrepreneurship support structures

 

As part of the I&P Acceleration in Sahel program, sponsored by the European Union, I&P gathered in Dakar (Senegal) the first cohort of entrepreneurship support structures (incubators, accelerators, start-up studios...) for a first regional training workshop. 20 participants (2 participants per structure) were able to consolidate their skills on financial issues.

CassVita

Based in Limbé, in the west of Cameroon, CassVita is a young company specialized in the production and transformation of cassava. The company produces Watafufu powder, a dish consumed in most regions of Cameroon and Nigeria, and is developing cassava and modified starch-based pastry flour.

THE ENTREPRENEUR

The company is led by two entrepreneurs, Nembu Milton and Pelkins Ajanoh.

Born and raised in Limbe where he did his primary and secondary studies, Nembu Milton went to the Ecole Nationale Supérieur des Travaux Publics from where he graduated as a Public Works Engineer. Before the CassVita adventure, Nembu Miltona previously had a business experience marked by the launch of a restaurant called Mr. Restaurant Chaba.

A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Havard Business School in the United States, Pelkins Ajanoh has received several recognitions for innovation and leadership including the 2015 Guistwhite Scholarship, an academic and leadership award given to only fifteen students in the United State.

NJ Prestations

NJ Prestations is a company specialized in metal, aluminum and stainless steel constructions in Burkina Faso. It mainly produces doors, windows, bay windows and water towers, tanks, tables-benches, and cabinets for schools, institutions and companies.  

 

THE ENTREPRENEUR

NJ Prestations was created by Mr. Rodrigue NIKIEMA. Holder of a Brevet de Premier Cycle (BEPC) and a Certificat de Qualification Professionnel (CQP) in welding and metallic works, he followed training sessions in metallic construction, aluminium and stainless steel in Ghana and Nigeria, which allowed him to position his company as one of the welding companies mastering at the same time the three raw materials that are aluminium, iron and stainless steel.

Lomé Business School ( LSB) is a university offering training courses in Information Technology Management  and Business Management in Lomé, Togo. LBS opened  in 2013 with 13 students and has 117 students today. 30% of the students are coming from 8 countries in the West African sub-region, Cameroon and Gabon.

THE ENTREPRENEURS

Born in Côte d'Ivoire, Fulgence Amani (CEO of LBS) studied in Côte d'Ivoire and in France. As a telecommunication engineer from ITES (Institut des Technologies et Spécialités), he worked as an IT engineer in Abidjan before continuing his studies in France where he got a master's degree in finance at SKEMA. After several years in IT Management in France at Total and Capgemini, he worked as an IT and Fintech consultant and worked with clients such as Orange Bank, Ernst & Young and Société Générale in Africa. For the past ten years, Fulgence Amani has also held teaching positions at USTA-Ouagadougou and ESSCA Paris in addition to his consulting activities before co-founding LBS with his wife, Patience Adjivon.

Marketing Director of LBS, Patience Adjivon holds a master's degree in R&D and Biotechnology from Paris VI. With a rich professional background on missions as a laboratory researcher in healthcare in France (Institut Jacques Monod, Institut Cochin, Sanofi, Pierre Fabre) and at Cap Gemini as a Fintech project coordinator, she co-founded LBS.

LBS is supported by I&P through education and employment component of I&P Acceleration in Sahel program (IP2E).

The funding and support provided to LBS aims to :

  • Set up an e-learning platform to digitalize a large part of the training program
  • Strengthen the pedagogical equipment of the school
  • Set up a pedagogical engineering process including aspects related to digitalization

LMKT

The Lycée Privé Technique Moderne de Koudougou (LTMK) is a technical secondary school created in 2017, located in Koudougou, Burkina Faso, about a hundred kilometers from Ouagadougou.

The school has 207 students and offers initial training (BEP and BAC) in the fields of electronics, civil engineering and electrical engineering. The school will open in 2021-2022, a cycle of classical secondary education from the 6th to the 10th grade.

 

 

THE ENTREPRENEUR

Mr. KABORE is a 37 year old Burkinabé, holder of a DUT in commercial management and a Master in Marketing and Business Intelligence from the African Institute of Management (IAM Ouaga). After fifteen years of experience in teaching and recruitment, he opened the Institut Supérieur de l'Eau, du Bâtiment et de l'Energie à Ouagadougou (ISEBE) in 2013, a training center based in Ouagadougou that offers training in civil engineering, geology and energy engineering. In 2017, three years after the opening of ISEBE, Mr. KABORE decided to open LTMK with the main objective of providing students with tools for entrepreneurship or giving them a solid foundation before entering a higher education institution.

The funding and support provided to LTMK aims at :

  • The location, installation and the supply of 10 classrooms for the opening of a classical teaching cycle

Ecofood

Ecofood is a Cameroonian company that operates in mass catering and started its activities with school catering and life base services. Today, it feeds more than 1500 students a day in the most prestigious primary and secondary schools in Yaoundé.

THE ENTREPRENEUR

Stéphane NKONTCHOU is the founder of Ecofood. He grew up in Cameroon and then continued his studies in France, with two master's degrees in Mechanics from the Pierre et Marie Curie University and Arts et Métiers. After ten years of experience in industrial project management, he decided to come back to Cameroon to take care of a family business of which he became the General Manager. After this experience, he decided to found Ecofood.

THE PURPOSE OF THE FUNDING

Ecofood is supported by I&P through I&P Acceleration in Sahel, funded by the European Union.

The objectives of the funding are : 

  • to acquire 3 vehicles for the distribution of meals in schools
  • the fitting out of the new premises
  • the implementation of an information system
  • the preparation and execution of the marketing and communication strategy
